DRIVING FORCE OF TODAY

Watching the movie 'Varumaiyin Niram Sigappu' a few days back, set me thinking, how much has changed since then 1980 and now. Has poverty been alleviated to an extent or does the situation still remain so grim?Poverty, unmployment, hunger, starvation, nepotism, red tapism- all still remain, though i was not born when the movie was actually made in the early 80s and late 70s ,I am given to understand that this was a period when all these social evils were raisng its head and were fast growing into cancerous evils.Coming back to the question- has anything changed...I want to say yes but my mind asks me to key in NO. Seeing this if you get angry you are the first cause of all these social evils. As long as we have the me-centric thinkingnothing , just nothing will improve. trying to say that many me centred thinking will ultimately make up a nation is absurd.Make a nation- yeah, absolutely it will but, make a nation of egoistic, money-minded, unscrupulous, preposterous individualsfighting mentally, thinking only evil of others and waging cold wars with each other.

The rich have become richer and poor remain have remained poorer, this holds good and will hold good for aeons and aeons to come by.While those who have had acccess to money have gone on to make more of it and those who didnt have access to it have gone away from it further when the lower middle class became middle class the middle class became upper middle and the upper middle became the rich and affluent, well, what this resulted in.....an unjustified, exorbitant, increase in prices of essential commodities.Like the it industry has done in India. Real estate prices have risen like rockets, much to the dismay of general public. Who is responsible for this? Since the purchasing power has gone up so has the prices, karakara varikkum karandhudlam nu try panranunga...Recently when my cousin engaged a taxi from Central to his residence in East tambaram, he was demeanded Rs 600 flat! And the taxi driver said enna sir officela kodukkaranga neenga ennamo romba salichikkurenga kodukarathuku..The general perception is that every one else other than our own self has lots of money to playwith.I think, u have more money to play with, and u think i have ..No wonder they say..Pananmna ponamum vaiyaa polakkum.....

More and more engineers are being churned out each year without adequate means to place them in jobs. If the companies fault that, the candidates are not employable its the fault of the colleges and universities concerned.Anna university is very proud to call itself the largest university in the world, this is just like saying india is the second most populous or the first in AIDS cases. Are we still no thearing of hunger deaths in india. How many farmers commit suicide in vidharba and closer home in Andhra pradesh.Nepotism has increased not in any normal public office but in the corridors of power, be it dayanidhi or rahul or priyanka or karthi ...all are recepients of nepotism only,i quote jayalalitha in this regard" netru mulaitha kathukuttigal" she rightly termed, merely by virtue of so and so's son or daughter cannot pave the way to hold offices of power.

Red tapism seems the only thing which has come down since then, hats off to the RTI act. Its a comprehensive solution to counter bribery and corruption.People must be made aware of it by the media, yes the media has done its bit til now, but it has to play a greater part by canvassing for the public.the common man should have tha arrogance of the RTI power. The table must tide in his favour, till then we have to work.

As already quoted in my earlier blog- 20000 rupees and your virginity........ other evils such as pimping up for favours have definitely increased more so because people have begun to look at sex in a different way. Its being viewed as a mere object of pleasure. In my earlier blog i had stated that we must not feel ashamed or embarrassed to talk about sex since we are here because of that. The sanathana dharma states that the main aim of man is to propogate his species. Legend has it that Manu , considered the first human was asked by Bhrama the creator to propogate his species. So one of the basic aims of man is to propogate his species and for that alone sex is required. Its only an act of procreation and not of recreation. We must not seek to derive pleasure out of it. This is what vaishnavite and saiva ideologies advocate. misplaced facts by various yoga centres and doctors about sex have flared the appetite of men and women.Eve brought into this world all miseries? why and how? We all know the reason was sex. My question to all of you is this, when we can regard sex as only an object of pleasure and switch partners and commit adultery, why then do we view rape as different? What is going to happen is the same. Justify, men and women who have this view of sex. The world today is driven by only two things-sex and money. The former can buy the later and the later can buy the former. both are currnecies in todays world. Knowledge is taking a drubbing. Its important as individuals to realize this truth and to uphold our integrity. Just because IT pays we cant make it sway (us). The west is looking eastwards for mental relief, taking to yoga and classical music. So we better look inward and stay with our cultural roots. The need of the hour is control of senses.
Sensless we have become,
forgetting of things to come.
Sensible we need to be,
for the bright future to be.

Fantastically said da... very very practical thought... especially

"when we can regard sex as only an object of pleasure and switch partners and commit adultery, why then do we view rape as different?"..
i have no words for this post.. but i would like to add that not everyone are like that.. might be a few ppl...

"Varumaiyin Niram Sigappu"..u have mentioned abt this a couple of times... i havent seen that movie.. will do it soon..

And abt that taxi driver...

"enna sir officela kodukkaranga neenga ennamo romba salichikkurenga kodukarathuku".... lol... i think he might have told abt the conveyance reimbursement given by companies...

But i disagree with you regarding the RTI act... Do u know, the ppl are actually afraid to use that... It has been recently reported by media that those ppl who are actually seeking information as per the act are not treated properly by the govt officials and they are threatened by rowdies sent by higher heads...

"The west is looking eastwards for mental relief...."
thats a valid and a thoughtful point.. But our ppl are more inclined towards western cultures these days.. Nobody can correct them.. Its they themselves who have to realize that our culture is more superior than theirs...

One of your best posts da... keep ticking.. CHEERS!!!!

Your post reminded me of a Quote from 'sex and the city':

"Sex is power. Money is power. So exchanging sex for money is merely an exchange of power"
